Leaded Glass

When glass manufacture was more of an art rather than a science, it was not possible to produce large sheets of perfectly clear glass.

 

One solution was to produce smaller glass panels and to fit these in to either small window frames or in to a leaded frame structure.

 

Leaded glass windows were developed to accommodate the limitations of glass manufacture, however, they have their own special attraction and are still used today to offer character and charm to both modern and older buildings.
